Our priority is to provide each student with the best education possible, as well as a safe and secure learning environment. In order for us to achieve this goal, we need your help. Please assist us by demonstrating support of the following:
Bussey’s dress code consists of khaki bottoms (pants, skirts, jumpers) and dark green, or navy blue collared shirts. Please remember that we emphasize neatness in dress, which means that oversized or baggy pants/shirts that hang down will not be allowed. Tops are to be tucked in. Flip flops and tennis shoes with wheels are not allowed. Please make sure your child’s shoes are comfortable and allow for active and safe participation in physical activities.
To conference with your child’s teacher, a time must be arranged with the teacher, as teachers may not conference during instructional time. Our office staff will be happy to forward your name and phone number to the teacher, who will then call you to set up an appointment.
We welcome all volunteers to our school, but before you can volunteer you must complete and clear the on-line criminal background check. You can access the registration form at http://www.aldine.k12.tx.us/cbc. This form must be completed every school year. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns regarding this procedure.
Arrival at School
When visiting the school, you must use the front entrance. All visitors must report to the reception desk and present proper identification (driver’s license or state ID), every time they visit the building. Your identification will be scanned using our Raptor System. Using this procedure and cameras, increases the security and safety of our building. With the exception of the first day of school, parents will not be allowed to walk their students to class or Keeble PK students to the LMC (library).
Please do not send your child to school before 7:00 a.m. as there is no one on duty to supervise the students. Breakfast starts at 7:10 a.m. and ends at 7:50 a.m. Teachers pick up their students at 7:45 a.m. to begin the instructional day. If your child is not sitting at his/her desk by 8:00 a.m., he/she is tardy. Please have your child at school on time every day. Students who arrive after 7:50 will not have the opportunity to eat breakfast at Bussey.
When driving your child to (and from) school, you must use the car rider ramp located by the teachers’ parking lot on Goodson Drive. This is the same procedure we implemented last year. Do not drop off students by the front doors, as you will block the buses, making it unsafe for our students and staff. Our car rider ramp will stay open until 8:15 a.m. to ensure all students are escorted safely from their cars.
Dismissal in the afternoon
Please make sure that your child’s teacher knows, in writing, how your child is to go home. Any time your child’s dismissal will deviate, you must notify the front office and the teacher. Changes in transportation MUST be reported to the office by 2:30 p.m., which can be made by fax or in person, both with proper identification.
If your child is a car rider, please come to the office and obtain a car rider number before school starts. Car rider numbers will also be available during orientation and they will be a new color for this year. Please do not attempt to use last year’s car rider number as it will not be valid for the 2014-2015 school year. Parents must display the car rider tag given to them on the dashboard or from the mirror to ensure a safe, smooth, and quick loading of students to their vehicles. All car riders must be picked up by 3:30, or the parent will have to enter the building and sign them out. After 3:30 p.m. the person sent for the student must present proper identification and have permission to pick-up the child.
Parents of students that walk (walkers) to and from school must also obtain a walker tag before school starts. All of our walkers must be picked up by 3:30 p.m. or the parent will have to enter the building and sign the student out. Kindergarten and First grade students cannot walk alone; they can only be released to an adult or a student of at least 16 years of age. The person sent for the student must present proper identification and have permission to pick-up the child.
Goodson Walkers- Students will be escorted by grade levels with a designated teacher to the outside of the building by the parking lot under a tree on Goodson Drive. Teachers will only release students to parents once they verify the release card and walker tag. We will not release students to parents that park their cars in the car rider line or do not have a tag or proper identification.
Dyna Walkers- Students will be released at the end of designated hallways on the side of the school with the field near Dyna Drive. Teachers will only release students to parents once they verify the release card and walker tag. If you have children that attend Keeble and other children that are in Kinder at Bussey, both students will wait for their parents in the kindergarten hallway.
When checking students out for early dismissal, you must report to the front office with proper identification to pick up your child. No child will be dismissed to you from the classroom. In order for us to provide a safe and secure environment for our students, you must be in the front office by 2:30 p.m. to pick up your child for early dismissal. Students will not be dismissed after that time unless it is an emergency approved by one of the administrators. A doctor’s appointment is not an emergency. Your child’s academic success may be affected if he/she consistently misses the end of the day. Therefore, avoid picking up your students early unless it is absolutely necessary.
So that you may better plan your time of arrival for dismissal, the following schedule is provided:
Car Riders, Walkers and Day Care Buses
